Junior Medical Academy (JMA) has been recognized and certified by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) to award the President’s Volunteer Service Awards (PVSA’s) to empowered volunteers contributing to JMA’s cause of providing free educational resources to youth in communities in which access to education is limited, inspiring them to be involved in the Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM).

CNCS is a federal agency that has created many programs for the purpose of empowering citizens’ to contribute to improving the current situation and fortifying the concept of communities. Functioning with the support of Points of Light, a nonprofit and corporation platform for community service and volunteer work, CNCS have created programs including Senior Corps, 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, and Social Innovation Fund.

The PVSA is given according to the number of service hours a US citizen or permanent resident has accumulated over the course of a 12-month or lifetime period. Depending on age and size of involvement, an individual seeking a PVSA must meet a minimum requirement of hours, and only certified organizations would be able to distribute the awards, which include a certificate, pin, medallion/coin, and a congratulatory letter from the US President.

Junior Medical Academy seeks to recognize the efforts of its loyal volunteers through the PVSA, and hopes that the volunteers would be empowered to working toward benefitting the greater community and world, for that matter.
